A Loyola University student was sexually assaulted Saturday night after getting off a CTA Red Line train, police said.

Around 10:30 p.m., the student had just exited CTA’s Granville Station and was walking in the 6300 block of N. Winthrop Avenue when they were approached by a man and inappropriately groped twice, according to police.

The victim described the man to authorities as 30 to 40 years old and medium build, wearing a white hat, dark jacket and white Nike gym shoes.

Loyola University’s Department of Campus Safety is working with Chicago police to continue to investigate the incident, but asks students to take advantage of the school’s 8-RIDE program and avoid walking along at night.

Other safety tips include refraining from using headphones and talking on the phone while walking, and always tell someone where you are going and when you will return.

Police ask if anyone see suspicious activity immediately call Campus Safety at (773) 508-6039 or the Chicago Police Department at 9-1-1 or (312)744-8263.
