Could Lollapalooza see a mud fest sequel? Those heading to Lollapalooza this weekend will want to bring a rain poncho and sunscreen, especially on Saturday.
The three-day festival kicks off Friday with highs between 90 and 94 degrees. NBC Chicago meteorologist Andy Avalos says a light breeze will turn temps only slightly cooler along the lakefront.
After a mild night, temps ramp up for what's expected to be the hottest -- and potentially stormiest -- day of the weekend. Highs again range between 92 and 96 but high humidity will make it feel more like 100 or higher.
Avalos is tracking Isolated thunderstorms possible in the afternoon with more widespread, strong-to-possibly severe thunderstorms likely in the evening and at night.
The Office of Emergency Management set up shelters at Grant Park's north, south and East Monroe Street garages. Cooling buses and water stations also will be set up.
Lolla fans should see relief roll in come Sunday. Though morning clouds and a chance for a few showers lingers early on, the day is expected to become, sunny, cooler and less humid with highs in the low to mid-80s.
