Roads Closed Across Area Due to Heavy Rains, Flooding

Road closures are being reported across the area after heavy rains inundated the region over a two-day span.

The Illinois Department of Transportation has confirmed that the intersection of Butterfield Road and Route 53 in suburban Glen Ellyn is closed due to floodwaters overtaking the roadway. Authorities say that businesses around the intersection are still accessible, but encourage motorists to be cautious as they drive through the area.

Numerous other roadways remain closed due to flooding, which was caused by the over 2 inches of rain that have fallen across the region over the last two days.

Des Plaines:

-Golf Road is flooded at the underpass between River Road and Interstate 294.

Highland:

-One lane of Interstate I-80/I-94 in each direction is flooded with standing water.

Joliet:

-US 30 closed due to flooding of underpass near Highland Park in eastern Joliet.

Naperville:

- Royce Road is closed between Bolingbrook Drive and Greene Road.

Orland Park:

-IDOT has closed Wolf Road between 143rd Street and 151st Street.

--Southwest Highway is currently shut down between 131st Street and 143rd Street due to water covering the roadway.

-135th Street is also closed between Harlem and Ridgeland Avenue in Orland.

Palos Hills:

-107th Street is closed between South LaGrange Road and South Kean Avenue near Morraine Valley Community College.

Plainfield:

-127th Street closed between State Route 53 and Van Dyke Road

-Caton Farm Road is closed between Joe Adler Drive and County Line Road

Richton Park:

-Governor’s Highway closed at underpass between Sauk Trail and US 30

Warrenville:

-Ferry Road closed due to flooding.
