Light Snow, Flurries Fall During Morning Rush Hour

Scattered Lake effect snow showers fell across the Chicago area during Monday morning's rush hour commute, making for wet road conditions.

The light snow and flurries were expected to continue through the morning hours, leaving anywhere from a dusting to an inch of snow in some locations.

The snow showers are expected to move eastward into northwest Indiana and southwest Michigan by the afternoon, with 1 to 2 inches possible.

Drivers were urged to use caution on wet and potentially slick roadways.

City officials announced Sunday 211 snow plows would be deployed to respond to the snow. Salt spreaders were slated to focus on Lake Shore Drive and arterial routes, according to the city.

Temperature highs will sit in the mid- to upper-20s Monday.
