Woman Struck by Falling Ice on North Side: CFD

A woman was hit in the head by falling ice Friday on Chicago’s North Side, officials said.

She was struck about 2 p.m. near Lawrence Avenue and Broadway, Chicago police said. The woman suffered bruising to her head, police said.

A witness told NBC 5 large sheets of ice as wide as a car and very thick had been falling from the building during the afternoon. He said the woman was alert and talking to police when an ambulance came.

She was taken to Illinois Masonic in good condition.
