Lauri Markkanen to Compete in NBA Skills Challenge

Markkanen will represent the World team in the Rising Stars competition

Chicago Bulls rookie sensation Lauri Markkanen will participate in the league’s Rising Stars competition at the All-Star Game, but that won’t be the only event he’ll be looking to shine in.

Markkanen, who will represent the world team in that competition, will also be a participant in the league’s Skills Challenge. That event will take place on Saturday night during All-Star weekend festivities, and will feature some of the most intriguing stars in the game.

Defending champion Kristaps Porzingis will be back for the event, as the New York Knicks star will look to join players like Steve Nash and Dwyane Wade as two-time winners. Philadelphia 76’ers center Joel Embiid and Los Angeles Clippers guard Lou Williams will also compete.

Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell, Nets guard Spencer Dinwiddie, Nuggets guard Jamal Murray, and Celtics forward Al Horford will round out the eight man field.

The NBA’s Skills Competition, which also includes the three-point shooting competition and the slam dunk contest, will air Feb. 17 on TNT from the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
