Welcome to the last official day of summer. Hope you brought a jacket and umbrella.
Friday kicked off with temperatures in the upper 40s and low 50s, and the rest of the day isn't expected to warm up beyond the mid-60s.
Eastbound showers likely will arrive in Chicago before 1 p.m. as winds gust as high as 15 mph, according to the National Weather Service. The rest of the day remains cloudy with a low around 50 degrees before showers move in again overnight.
Saturday showers also are likely, mainly between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m., then partly sunny with temperatures about 10 to 15 degrees cooler than the average.
A low of 42 is predicted for Saturday night and a chilly Sunday with a high near 59.
Those temperatures are expected to stick around for the early part of next week.
