Chicago-area native Lana Gehring's hopes of medaling in the 2018 Olympic Winter Games are over.
Gehring, of Glenview, failed to qualify in the 1000m short track event Tuesday - the last of her three events.
The 2010 bronze medalist was hit with a penalty and disqualified from the competition at the Gangneung Ice Arena in Pyeongchang.
The top two contenders in each of the eight heats advance to the quarterfinals on Thursday, with the finals held later the same day.
