Lakers Claim Carlos Boozer: Report

Bulls to pay Boozer's $16.8 million salary minus Lakers' contribution

The Bulls' NBA free agency period appears to have resulted in a basic swap of Carlos Boozer for Pau Gasol.

ESPN reports the Los Angeles Lakers have claimed Boozer on waivers after the Bulls used the amnesty provision on the power forward earlier this week.

The Lakers will pay $3.25 million for Boozer, which means Chicago will still be on the hook for $13.55 million, the remainder of his $16.8 million salary, although the money will not count toward the Bulls' salary cap.

The Bulls amnestied Boozer in order to make room for Gasol, who played for the Lakers last season.

Boozer averaged 13.7 points and 8.3 rebounds for the Bulls last season.
