Shooting Victims Force Woman to Drive Them to Hospital, Steal Her Car When She Doesn't Go Fast Enough: Police

The victims were trying to drive themselves to Mercy Hospital when they collided with a 22-year-old woman in a beige-colored Mazda, jumped in her car and told her to take them to the hospital

Two people shot in broad daylight off Lake Shore Drive Friday jumped into a woman’s car, forcing her to drive them to the hospital before stealing her vehicle when she didn’t go fast enough, police said.

The two 23-year-old men were driving eastbound on Lake Shore Drive around 1 p.m. when police say a black-colored vehicle pulled up alongside them. Shots were fired in the 4700 block of South Cornell Avenue, just off the major roadway. The victims were trying to drive themselves to Mercy Hospital when they collided with a 22-year-old woman in a beige-colored Mazda, police said.

They then jumped into her car and “demanded she drive them to the nearest hospital,” authorities said. When the woman wasn’t driving fast enough, they forced her to exit the vehicle and drove off in her car.

They drove to Mercy Hospital and were later transported to Stroger Hospital in stable condition.
