Lake Shore Drive Resurfacing Set to Move Into Next Phase

The Chicago Department of Transportation has announced that its repaving project on Lake Shore Drive, and that they will re-open closed lanes on the roadway this week.

According to CDOT, the two inner lanes going both north and southbound will reopen after the morning rush hour on Thursday morning. The agency says that it will then close the outer lanes going in both directions for resurfacing work, which is expected to take several weeks.

In addition, the northbound exit ramp from Lake Shore Drive to Illinois Street, and the southbound exit ramp to Randolph Street, will be closed to traffic beginning at 7 p.m. Thursday evening.

The northbound exit ramp at Randolph and the ramp from Randolph to lower Lake Shore Drive will remain open until the work on the Illinois Street ramps is completed. At that point, those ramps will be closed for resurfacing work.

CDOT also warns motorists that periodic closures of Lower Lake Shore Drive and Lower Wacker Drive could occur if extensive repairs are required.
