Man Dies After Rescue From Lake Michigan

An elderly man died Friday after being pulled from Lake Michigan earlier this afternoon

A man died Friday after being pulled from Lake Michigan earlier Friday afternoon by lifeguards near North Avenue Beach, officials said.

Police were notified around 2 p.m. that an unidentified man was pulled from Lake Michigan.

Chicago Park District lifeguards reportedly rescued the man from the water before paramedics arrived and began CPR.

The man, said to be in his 60s, was sent to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in “extremely unstable” condition and was pronounced dead at 2:31 p.m., according to the Chicago Tribune.
