Lake Forest Drowning Victim Identified

Dr. Victoria Kut's body found after a seven hour search

A body pulled from Lake Michigan Sunday was identified Tuesday as Dr. Victoria Kut, Lake County officials said.

Kut, an oncologist from the block of Windwood Drive, went missing from her Lake Forest home Sunday, her husband told police.

Dr. Kut was found wearing a swimming suit and "by all accounts was a very good swimmer," Lake County Coroner Artis Yancey said.

Her body was found 2.5 miles off of Forest Park Beach, which is at the east end of Deerpath approximately seven hours after she was reported missing.

Since 1997 Kut has treated patients with cancer and blood disorders on the North Shore and completed her fellowship training in Oncology/ Hematology and Geriatrics at Northwestern University, according to the Lake Shore Oncology and Hematology online biography.

Officials have not indicated whether foul play is suspected. The incident is under investigation.
