Monday Was Wettest Labor Day For Chicago Since 1912

Monday was the wettest Labor Day in the Chicago area on record.

The standing record was 1.49 inches in 1912. The total in 2018 as of Monday at 10:30 p.m. was 1.61 inches at O’Hare International Airport.

A Flash Flood Warning was set to expire Tuesday at midnight.

Some areas across the northern counties have seen more than 7 inches of rain since Friday.

Flood advisories for the Chicago, DuPage and Des Plaines rivers continues through Tuesday afternoon and the evening.

Some Chicago-area communities could see fog Monday night but Tuesday should be mainly dry with isolated storms possible.

It will remain hot and human with highs in the mid 80s—but the heat index will be in the mid 90s.

Storms are being tracked to Wednesday afternoon as a cold front passes through with showers that could linger until Thursday morning.

Temps will fall from the 80s to the 70s on Thursday.
