Kyle Schwarber Pays Surprise Visit to Chicago Firehouse

Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Schwarber surprised a group of firefighters on Wednesday, as he popped into Engine 112 in the city’s North Center neighborhood.

Schwarber, who visited the firehouse as part of his Schwarber’s Neighborhood Heroes program, brought along his dog Blue as he thanked firefighters for their service and made a donation to the department:

Schwarber donated a 65-inch TV and a new Playstation to the firehouse, according to the Chicago-Sun Times. He also grilled out for the firefighters, making them brats and hot dogs at the station.

The Neighborhood Heroes campaign launched in May, with the stated purpose of giving back to police officers and firefighters. Schwarber has welcomed police officers to a Cubs game this season, and has spearheaded other initiatives as part of the program.
