Missing Suburban Man Found After Massive Search Effort

21-year-old Kyle Cuchna was considered a "high risk missing person" because he was bipolar and had not been taking his medication

A suburban man who had been missing for a week was found safe Saturday night at a shelter and has been reunited with his family.

Kyle Cuchna, a 21-year-old from Cary, went missing Jan. 10, prompting his family and friends to launch a massive search effort in Crystal Lake. The family spread the word through social media, and hundreds of volunteers showed up for the search.

Cuchna was found safe at a shelter in nearby suburban Wauconda.

"WE FOUND KYLE. WE FOUND KYLE!!!!!!! We found him!" the family posted on their Facebook page where they provided updates on the search.

Kyle had last been seen at Cary United Methodist Church. He was considered a "high risk missing person" because his family said he was bipolar and had not been taking his medication. They also said he was not wearing warm clothing to cope with the cold weather.

The family said the successful search was a community effort spawned by the power of social media, and they expressed their gratitude for all who helped them find Cuchna.
