Kris Bryant to Miss Second Straight Game for Cubs

For the second night in a row, Chicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant will not be in the starting lineup when the team takes on the Cleveland Indians at Progressive Field.

Bryant, who left Sunday’s game against Colorado after being hit in the head by a pitch, will miss another game as he continues to recover from the laceration he suffered above his eye as a result of the incident.

Tommy La Stella will bat fifth and play third base in place of Bryant. Javier Baez will bat second and play second base for the Cubs, who are going for a two-game sweep of the Indians.

Bryant’s next chance at playing would come on Thursday night, as the Cubs welcome the Milwaukee Brewers to Wrigley Field for the first game of a four-game series at the Friendly Confines.
