Chicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant was forced to leave the team's game against the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday after injuring his finger on a slide into third base.

According to the Cubs, Bryant suffered a sprained left pinkie finger, but X-rays were negative. They termed the third baseman's condition as "day-to-day," and with an off-day coming tomorrow, another update likely won't come until Friday.  

Bryant's injury came in the first inning of the contest, as he slid headfirst into third base on a stolen base attempt. On the play, Bryant hit third baseman Jordan Camargo's foot, and he immediately walked off the field holding his left hand: 

Bryant was replaced in the lineup by Tommy La Stella.
