Cubs Enlist Help to Get Kris Bryant Into MLB All-Star Game

Chicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant is in the running for the final spot on the National League All-Star roster, and the North Siders are pulling out all the stops to try to get him elected.

Bryant, the defending National League MVP and a two-time All-Star in his career, was not selected for the roster this time around. Only Cubs reliever Wade Davis made it from the defending World Series champions, but thanks to MLB’s voting for the final spot, Bryant still has a chance to join his teammate in Miami.

To help achieve that goal, the Cubs are teaming up with the Boston Red Sox, who also have a candidate in the race for the final American League spot:

Xander Bogaerts is having a strong season for the Red Sox, with a .314 batting average and 29 extra base hits to go along with 49 runs scored. He is one of the catalysts for a potent lineup, and he’ll be looking to make his second consecutive All-Star Game appearance.

To help in the effort, the Cubs tweeted out both of the hashtags that fans can use to vote for Bryant and Bogaerts, and they’re also offering fans a chance to win a Bryant-signed jersey if they vote 17 or more times before voting closes later this week.

Voting ends at 3 p.m. Central time on Thursday afternoon. The MLB All-Star Game will be held on Tues., July 11 at Marlins Park in Miami.
