An elderly man remained in critical condition Monday after being struck by a vehicle a day earlier on the city's northwest side.
The 87-year-old man struck by a green Jeep Grand Cherokee in the 4400 block of West Fullerton Avenue shortly before 4 p.m. Sunday, said Officer Darryl Baety, a police department spokesman.
The driver of the Cherokee drove off and parked at a Mobile gas station in the 2400 block of North Kostner Ave., Baety said. He then fled on foot.
The victim was taken in critical condition to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center.
The driver is described as a male Hispanic with a dark complexion, who stands about 6 feet tall with a heavy-set build.
