‘Know Your Value' Women's Conference With Mika Brzezinski Comes to Chicago

MSNBC's Mika Brzezinski is hosting the conference as part of her book tour for "Grow Your Value"

The nationwide "Know Your Value" conference focused on empowering working women is in Chicago Friday.

MSNBC's Mika Brzezinski is hosting the conference as part of her book tour for "Grow Your Value." Brzezinski's book aims to empower women in the negotiating room and help them take control of their own career.

"Women need to stop apologizing all the time, they need to stop self-deprecating and underselling," Brzezinski said. "We tend to undersell, hoping that we'll pleasantly surprise people."

Noting that she used to make 14 times less than her male counterpart Joe Scarborough on "Morning Joe," Brzezinski says making the right moves in the negotiation room is key.

The conference takes place from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at the Chicago Marriott downtown, located at 540 N. Michigan Ave. Tickets can be purchased for $225 here.

NBC Chicago's Zoraida Sambolin will moderate one of the panels. Other special guests include Sen. Claire McCaskill; Alison Levine, team captain of America Women's Everest Expedition; and Sheri Salata, president of the Oprah Winfrey Network.

You can watch live video of the conference on MSNBC.com.
