Kirby Dach, Adam Boqvist Back in Blackhawks' Lineup for Game vs. Leafs

Both rookies were healthy scratches on Saturday against the Penguins

With the Chicago Blackhawks in for a tough matchup against the Toronto Maple Leafs, the squad will welcome two rookies back into the mix as Kirby Dach and Adam Boqvist will both play on Sunday night.

Dach and Boqvist were both healthy scratches on Saturday night as the Blackhawks lost to the Pittsburgh Penguins in a shootout. The scratches were the first of their NHL careers, and after one game in the press box the highly-touted duo will return to action against the Leafs.

Dach has appeared in 10 NHL games, scoring a goal and dishing out two assists for the Blackhawks. The center has gotten playing time on the power play, but had seen his minutes decline in the contests leading up to his scratch on Saturday night.

In four games so far this season, Boqvist has one goal and two penalty minutes. He has found success on the team’s power play, teaming up with Erik Gustafsson on the point in Thursday’s win over the Vancouver Canucks.

With Dacha and Boqvist returning to the mix, center Ryan Carpenter will be a scratch in the game after a death in his family, according to the team. Defenseman Slater Koekkoek will also be a healthy scratch for the contest.

Puck drop is scheduled for 6 p.m.
