Chicago Bears

Khalil Mack, Roquan Smith Could be Limited vs. Packers, Reports Say

Neither player suited up for a preseason game with the Bears

According to multiple reports, Chicago Bears fans will get a limited look at two of their newest defensive stars in their game against the Green Bay Packers.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter and NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, rookie Roquan Smith and new acquisition Khalil Mack are expected to play a limited number of snaps against the Packers, as neither player saw any reps during preseason action.

The reports suggest that both players will be limited to 20 to 30 plays in the game, and that’s a tough pill to swallow for a Bears team that’s hoping to get a rare victory over the Packers at Lambeau Field.

Smith held out from training camp due to a contract dispute with the Bears, but finally signed and was able to get in practice time with the team, but an injury prevented him from getting onto the field for a game.

The Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers are getting ready to renew their rivalry this weekend at Lambeau Field, and we have a recap of how the series has gone historically between the two teams.

Mack, who was acquired in a trade from the Raiders, held out from training camp as he sought a new contract, and after his extension was signed following the trade he tried to get ready for the game, but the Bears are hoping to introduce him slowly into the mix.

Kick-off between the Bears and Packers is slated for 7:20 p.m., and the game will air on NBC 5.
