About halfway through the third period, we moved to the “mixed zone” to get in position. This is where we talk to athletes after competition. The score was tied at this point, and we were all on edge.
14/205
We were also watching alongside Canadian media during overtime.
15/205
Then the athletes came out and I got to touch the medal!!! They are very heavy and BEAUTIFUL!
16/205
Talking to the one and only Kendall Coyne. She was beaming. She was part of the 2014 team that lost to Canada in overtime. Redemption!

It’s a cold morning, but we’re excited! Bradie Tennell’s biggest fans are here to watch her skate the short program.

Ever wonder what Olympians eat?! Meet the Chicago native, Allen Tran, who cooks for some members of Team USA! Any guesses on menu regulars? Hint: you can bet they’re getting a taste of Chicago.
80/205
His team had to bring in everything you could imagine - plates, utensils, kitchen gadgets, etc.
81/205
Another chef writes the kitchen’s hours of operation outside.
82/205
I would have never guessed this wasn’t a kitchen/restaurant before! This was an old ski and rental shop!
83/205
They shipped in pallets of food and also visited the local markets.
84/205
They converted a ski rental shop into their pop-up kitchen and storage area.
85/205
The freezer and fridge needed to be hauled into this ski rental shop. It was a long process!
86/205
Chef Tran is inspired by the Chicago food scene - tacos, Italian beef...he’s still trying to get Chicago dogs on the menu in a healthy way.

This steam locomotive has more than 1,000 bullet holes. It was abandoned in the DMZ after it got derailed by bombs during the Korean War. This is now a symbol of the tragic history of division between North and South Korea.

We were allowed into one of those blue buildings, called the United Nations Command Military Armistice Commission conference center. The North and South don’t meet often but they did recently for talks about a unified Korean Olympic delegation.

Those three black cables are a literal demarcation of North and South Korea. Those people standing in the background are technically standing in the North.

A view into North Korea. While we were there, we could hear faint music blaring over speakers. Our guide told us that was by design. The North Koreans knew we were there and wanted to send us a message.
