Kane Cancels Public Events on Stanley Cup Day in Buffalo

Chicago Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane is scheduled to have his day with the Stanley Cup on Saturday, but in the wake of an investigation, the celebration will be a muted one.

NBC Chicago confirmed through Blackhawks Vice President of Communications Brandon Faber that Kane's day with the up is now private.

Kane has canceled all events that he was scheduled to take part in and will instead spend the day with his family in Buffalo.

Kane was due to take the Cup to a couple of different places, including a local golf course and a children’s hospital in the Buffalo area. Amid the investigation, however, the forward opted for a quieter day than usual when the Stanley Cup is around.

The Buffalo News reported that law enforcement sources say Kane is the focus of an investigation into an allegation of rape.

Hamburg Police confirmed Friday that the department is looking into an incident that allegedly happened at Kane's home last weekend. Kane has not been charged with a crime.
