A firefighter was injured and dozens of residents were displaced in a fire just before New Year's Eve fire in suburban Justice.
Firefighters responded to the scene around 9 p.m. Sunday in the 8700 block of West 85th Street. There they found flames on a third-floor balcony, which had spread to the building's roof and attic, according to Roberts Park Fire Protection District Chief Jeff Ketchen.
The four-alarm fire caused part of the roof to collapse, with more than 20 departments called in to help battle the flames, Ketchen said.
One firefighter suffered minor injuries in the blaze and was treated and released from an area hospital. All residents were safely evacuated from the building, according to Ketchen.
The cause of the fire remained under investigation Monday, authorities said.
