Jon Lester Gives Young Fan Gift Outside of Wrigley Field

Chicago Cubs pitcher Jon Lester has become well-known for his commanding presence on the pitcher’s mound and for his competitive spirit, but even after one of the biggest games of his career, he still made it a point to make a young fan happy outside of Wrigley Field.

Lester, who helped the Cubs to a Game 5 victory over the Cleveland Indians that kept the team’s World Series hopes alive, was walking out of Wrigley Field on Sunday night when he saw a young fan in the crowd, and he proceeded to give him a remarkable gift.

Here is a video that NBC 5 viewer Samantha Phelps sent in of the exchange:

Needless to say, the evening will be one that the young fan will never forget, as the Cubs finished out their home schedule in style. Lester pitched six innings and gave up two earned runs, and he was credited with the win as the Cubs beat the Indians 3-2 and sent Wrigleyville into an ecstatic frenzy of celebration.
