Chicago Cubs Manager Joe Maddon Ejected From Game vs. Pirates

Maddon was upset about the way the Pirates were pitching to shortstop Javier Baez

Chicago Cubs manager Joe Maddon is known mostly for his laid-back attitude, but he showed a much angrier side to his personality as he was ejected from Thursday’s game against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

After Pirates starter Jordan Lyles threw several pitches up and in on Cubs shortstop Javier Báez during the game, Maddon stormed out of the dugout and began arguing with home plate umpire Joe West. Soon, Maddon began to turn his ire toward Pirates manager Clint Hurdle, and he was ultimately ejected from the game:

Cubs bench coach Mark Loretta took over managerial duties for the remainder of the game, and Maddon headed to the showers.

Later in the contest, West was forced to issue a warning to both benches as David Bote was hit in the head by a pitch. No one was ejected after that incident.
