Joe Maddon Offers Hilarious Comments After Cubs' Loss

The Cubs dropped their second straight game as their homestand came to an end

The Chicago Cubs were blown out by the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday afternoon, but at least one good thing came out of the loss – Joe Maddon’s postgame comments.

After the game, Maddon came down to the media room for his standard postgame chat, and he artfully described what the team should do with the 11-2 drubbing they were subjected to at the Friendly Confines.

“That game belongs in Lake Michigan with some cement shoes tied around it man,” he said. “That was awful. That is right out of the Roaring Twenties. Throw it away. I’m going to throw it out my ’85 Olds window driving back down Lake Shore Drive.”

Maddon is right to want to bury the game. The Cubs got another lackluster performance out of high-priced free agent Yu Darvish, who signed a six-year $126 million deal with the team, and once again struggled to hit the ball despite getting home runs from Kris Bryant and Anthony Rizzo.

Even with the loss, the Cubs managed to go 5-2 on their homestand, and will have a day off Thursday before beginning a three game series against the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium.
