After a lengthy drama, the Minnesota Timberwolves have reportedly traded former Chicago Bulls star Jimmy Butler to the Philadelphia 76’ers.
Butler, who was drafted by the Bulls in 2011 and played for six seasons in Chicago, will head to the 76’ers along with Justin Patton in exchange for Robert Covington, Dario Saric, and a 2022 second round draft pick, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the 76’erse are fully expecting to sign Butler to a long-term contract extension this summer, as he will hit free agency.
Butler was traded to the Timberwolves by the Bulls in 2016 in a package that brought Zach LaVine and Lauri Markkanen to Chicago. Since then, Butler has quarreled with several Timberwolves teammates, including Karl Anthony Towns, and demanded a trade earlier this year.
