Secretary of State Jesse White Says He Won't Seek Re-Election

Secretary of State Jesse White said Thursday that he won’t seek re-election for his sixth term.

While White has hinted at plans for retirement before, this time he made a formal announcement.

Speaking during the Democrat Day at the Illinois State Fair, White officially revealed that this will be his last term. He called it "my last tour of duty."

White first became Secretary of State in 1998. He had previously served as a legislator and Cook County Recorder of Deeds.
