Jackson Jr. Polling Under 50 Percent

Jesse Jackson Jr. leads former Congresswoman Deb Halvorson in the upcoming March 20th Primary election, but not by much

Fewer than half of voters polled last week said they'd re-elect Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr., according to data released Monday.

Jackson faces former Congresswoman Deb Halvorson in the upcoming March 20th Primary election.

While Jackson has the name recognition -- 96 percent compared to Halvorson's 56 percent -- he's not translating that into votes, Anzalone Liszt Research found.

The results of the polling, conducted Jan. 10 through Jan. 12, gives Jackson a 13 point lead, with the incumbent garnering 48 percent of the vote to Halvorson's 35 percent.

But that means Halvorson is gaining. Polling done in November by Fako & Associates of Lisle showed Halvorson getting just 18 percent of the vote.

The margin of error in last week's polling was +/- 4.9 percent.
