JCPenney announced plans to hire 400 associates in Illinois as the chain already starts thinking about the coming back-to-school shopping rush.

The company said Thursday it is looking to hire associates for positions including cashiers, beauty consultants as well as other service and support positions. In a press release, the company said there is flexible scheduling and an associate discount of up to 25 percent off.

JCPenney salons also are seeking new employees, specifically experienced stylists to join the company’s salon program.

This program allows for more flexible hours and personalized pricing. Salon stylists receive paid artistic training and health benefits for full-time employees.
