Javier Baez Pokes Fun at Francisco Lindor During Game

Baez and Lindor were high school rivals, and crossed paths during the 2016 World Series.

Chicago Cubs infielder Javier Baez and Cleveland Indians shortstop Francisco Lindor added another chapter to their hilarious rivalry on Wednesday night.

The duo, who both represented Puerto Rico in the World Baseball Classic and faced off in the 2016 World Series, were involved in a spectacular play that resulted in some good natured ribbing during Wednesday’s game between their respective teams:

On the play, Lindor made a diving stop in the hole and tried to throw Baez out at first base, but was unsuccessful. As he’s been known to do, Baez gave his countryman grief, wagging his finger and eliciting a smile from Lindor after the play ended.

The pair has crossed paths before, with a memorable exchange during Game 1 of the 2016 World Series. Baez pulled on Lindor’s hair at second base during the game, prompting a joking exchange between the two.

Baez has also deployed the finger wag against other opponents too, as Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig had found out during the National League Championship Series.
