Chicago Cubs Place Jason Heyward on Disabled List

Heyward suffered a hamstring injury Thursday night vs. the Braves

The Chicago Cubs have placed outfielder Jason Heyward on the 10-day disabled list, the team announced Friday.

Heyward, who is batting .275 with seven home runs and 52 RBI this season, injured his right hamstring in the team's win over the Atlanta Braves Thursday.

The Cubs will use Heyward's roster spot to call up pitcher Dillon Maples, as the team's bullpen has been taxed heavily over the last three days.

On the health front, the Cubs will activate Kris Bryant and Addison Russell from the disabled list on Saturday, manager Joe Maddon revealed.
