Jason Heyward Activated From Disabled List

Heyward is hitting .227 with two home runs this season

Chicago Cubs outfielder Jason Heyward has been activated from the disabled list, the team announced Friday.

Heyward, who was placed on the disabled list May 8, is batting .227 with two home runs and 14 RBI this season. The outfielder suffered the injury while trying to catch St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Dexter Fowler’s game-winning home run on May 7, and was placed on the D.L. the next day.

To make room for Heyward on the 25-man roster, the Cubs optioned pitcher Randy Rosario to Triple-A Iowa.

The Cubs are set to take on the Cincinnati Reds on Friday night, with first pitch scheduled at 6:10 p.m. at the Great American Ballpark.
