Gages Lake Man Charged With Child Pornography

Statement from Lake County Sheriff’s Office said search of Jason Rygiel's Gages Lake home turned up about 1,000 images and videos

A north suburban man faces child pornography charges after authorities said they found thousands of images and videos during a search of his home on Thursday.

Jason G. Rygiel, 29, was arrested after authorities executed a search warrant at his home on the 18000 block of West Grand Drive in Gages Lake, according to a statement from the Lake County sheriff’s office.

Authorities said they found about 1,000 images and videos they identified as child pornography. Multiple electronic media storage devices from the home were seized.

The investigation also determined that Rygiel reproduced several videos containing child pornography, police said.

Rygiel was charged with five counts of reproducing child pornography, each a Class X felony, the sheriff’s office said. Further investigation of the media devices seized from his home will determine if prosecutors seek additional charges.

He was being held Friday in the Lake County Jail with bail set at $100,000. His next court appearance was scheduled for Jan. 30.
