Jake Elliott Sets NFL Record With Game-Winning Kick for Eagles

Lyons Township alum Jake Elliott appeared in his second career NFL game on Sunday, and he made it one to remember as he nailed the game-winning kick for the Philadelphia Eagles against the New York Giants.

Elliott, who was born in Western Springs, drilled a staggering 61-yard field goal to win the game as time expired, sending the crowd at Lincoln Financial Field into a frenzy:

According to Elias Sports Bureau, the kick is just the 11th of 61 yards or more to ever be made in an NFL game, and is the longest kick to ever be made by a rookie. It also set a record for the longest kick ever made in Eagles history.

After the game, Elliott’s alma mater celebrated his achievement:

The kick moves the Eagles’ record to 2-1 as they prepare to take on the Los Angeles Chargers next weekend.
