Israel Idonije's Restaurant Gets Sacked

Alain's restaurant served with eviction notice

The revival of the South Loop dining scene appears to have taken another step back.

Alain's, a new restaurant at the corner of 14th and South Michigan and co-owned by Israel Idonije of the Chicago Bears, was served an eviction notice on Monday, Sloopin.com reports.

The sticker from the Cook County Sheriff's Office was placed on the front door of the restaurant and is dated September 24. The restaurant is less than two months old.

Idonije partnered with chef Alain Njike in the venture, a veteran of acclaimed restaurants such as NoMi, Charlie Trotter's and the Peninsula Hotel.

Attempts to reach the restaurant owners were unsuccessful.

The area has had several new restaurants open in the past few months, including City Tavern, Square One.
