The Chicago Bears may not have made the playoffs in 2015, but according to at least one of their free agent signees this offseason, they still have a big selling point for potential recruits: Quarterback Jay Cutler.
While fans may not be enamored with the quarterback, his performance in 2015 has turned some heads, and one of the people that took notice is newly signed defensive end Akiem Hicks.
“Of course I look at Jay Cutler and say ‘Oh man, he’s going to give you a great opportunity to win every Sunday,’” he told the Chicago Sun-Times. “I can’t say that I called him before I made my decision but I definitely looked at the quarterback. It’s a staple of every team, right?”
The Bears’ defense was in desperate need of an overhaul this offseason, and Hicks is the latest player to jump into the mix. The Bears have also signed linebackers Jerrell Freeman and Danny Trevathan, and they brought back Tracy Porter and Mitch Unrein as well as Vic Fangio looks to further strengthen his 3-4 defensive scheme.
