At Least 2 Hurt After Car Strikes Pedestrians Near CTA Bus Stop

Chicago police and fire officials are still investigating the incident

Two women were injured when they were struck by a car in Chicago's Washington Park neighborhood on Saturday evening, officials said. 

According to Chicago Police, the victims, both 60-year-old women, were standing at a bus stop near the intersection of 61st Street and King Drive at approximately 7:14 p.m. when they were hit by a Ford Explorer SUV. 

The driver of the vehicle fled the scene, and was later taken into custody by police. 

One of the victims was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where she is listed in critical condition. The other woman was taken to St. Bernard Hospital, where she is in stable condition. 

Charges are pending against the driver in the case, and police are continuing to investigate.
