Indiana School Bus Driver Suspended After Arrest For Soliciting a Minor in Chicago

The man tried to arrange a meeting with what he thought was a 14-year-old girl

A northern Indiana man was suspended from his job as a school bus driver following an arrest for soliciting sex from a minor in Chicago, WNDU, the NBC affiliate in South Bend, Ind. reported.

Mitchell Mace, 53, was caught trying to meet up with a 14-year-old girl in South Shore.

Mace is a bus driver for the South Bend Community School Corp., but has been suspended pending the outcome of the investigation, WNDU reported.

Mace was charged with felony counts of traveling to meet a minor and indecent solicitation, Chicago police said.

He was taken into custody after responding to an online advertisement about 11:10 a.m. Friday in which he made plans to have sexual relations with a 14-year-old girl, police said.

When officers saw Mace getting out of his vehicle in the 2500 block of East 71st Street, they arrested him on the spot.
