Indiana Gas Station Worker Hospitalized After Being Attacked by Mob

Yahya Alkalab suffered a fractured skull after a mob of teenagers attacked him outside of gas station in Gary

A Merrillville, Ind., gas station worker was hospitalized Thursday after he was attacked by a mob of teenagers just outside the gas station.

Yahya Alkalab, a man in his 40s, was attacked by about a dozen teenagers outside Clark gas station, located at 2295 Grant St. in Gary, at about 10:45 p.m.

Alkalab was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he is reported to be in fair condition. Among his injuries is a fractured skull, according to the Chicago Tribune.

The owner of the gas station, Saleh Mohamed, said Alkalab has a wife and several kids in Yemen and has been working very hard to bring them to the United States. Alkalab has been working at the gas station for about six months, Mohamed said.

The attack was caught on surveillance video, which has not been released.

No one is in custody as Gary Police continue to investigate the incident.
