Indian authorities are asking Chicago's Indian consulate to explain the alleged disappearance of papers and visa documents tied to terror-suspects David Coleman Headley and Tahawwur Rana.
“I have sought a factual report from our consul general,” Indian Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao said, according to the Times of India.
The consulate had issued visas to both Rana and Headley to travel to India, where the two went on several trips between 2006 and 2008.
Rao also added that the Indian government was receiving “very good cooperation from the United States government.”
India’s National Investigation Agency is looking into the visa application process as part of its investigation on the Mumbai attacks.
The two are accused of being behind the Mumbai terror attacks of last year and are suspected of plotting a terrorist attack on a Danish newspaper that published what some considered offensive cartoons about the Prophet Mohammed.
