Services for an Illinois State Police trooper struck and killed by a tractor-trailer during a traffic stop will be at his alma mater high school.
Motorcycle Trooper Kyle Deatherage, 32, was killed Monday morning along Interstate 55 near Litchfield, about 55 miles northeast of St. Louis.
State Police Director Hiram Grau said Deatherage was a married father of two children and had been a trooper since May 2009.
"He was taken from us much too soon," said Capt. Scott Compton, who was Deatherage's commander for the last year and a half, according to the Belleville News-Democrat.
There's no word on any charges.
Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland said Deatherage's funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Triad High School in Troy. Visitation will be there from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, then again from 9 a.m. Saturday until service time.
