IDOT Helicopter Crashes in New Mexico

No injuries reported in Saturday afternoon crash

A helicopter owned by the Illinois Department of Transportation has crashed in New Mexico.

Two Illinois state employees were aboard the helicopter at the time of the crash, IDOT spokesman Jae Miller told The State Journal-Register in Springfield.

She said both employees were unharmed and walked away from the crash, which happened Saturday afternoon about three miles south of Amistad, N.M.

Miller said the helicopter was traveling to Nevada for maintenance at the request of the Illinois Emergency Management Agency.

Officials from the Federal Aviation Administration said an investigation into a cause of the crash could take weeks.
