A stretch of northbound I-55 was shut down Wednesday after an accident left at least six people injured.
Traffic was completely halted about a half-mile past the I-355 Tollway due to the accident. Some cars were getting by on the shoulder.
Illinois State Police said Wednesday night they had little information to offer. They said it was a three vehicle "serious personal injury" crash but had no information on the conditions of those involved.
A traffic crash reconstruction officer was en route to the scene, police said.
