Entrepreneurs from the Chicago area could have an opportunity to pitch their business ideas to the four acclaimed sharks on the eighth season of “Shark Tank.”
An open public casting call held at Studio Xfinity on Monday is guaranteed for the first 500 applicants that attend. A private event is scheduled to be held Tuesday at the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business. It is open only to students, alumni, faculty, staff and community partners of the university, according to the Chicago Tribune.

While the sharks themselves; Barbara Corcoran, Mark Cuban, Lori Greiner and Robert Herjavec will not be at either event, “Shark Tank” hopefuls will do a one-minute pitch in front of members of the casting team.
Each season “Shark Tank” producers select about 150 entrepreneurs to go in front of the investors, according to the Tribune. There are about 400,000 applicants each season, however, the show is not taking a specific amount of finalists from Chicago.
Applicants arriving at Studio Xfinity will be given a wristband between 9 to 11 a.m. that will determine the pitching order. The first pitch will begin at 10 a.m. and expected to conclude at 6 p.m. Hopefuls are required to bring a completed application to the event.
