While to most it might have gone unnoticed or unremarked upon, the Chicago Tribune’s Kim Janssen took issue with Houston’s iteration Chicago’s famed “Cloud Gate,” which is made by the same sculptor Sir Anish Kapoor.

“If being surrounded by a cultureless abyss insufficiently communicates to confused tourists that they are in Houston, the bean’s verticality will therefore act as an additional reminder of their poor life choices,” he wrote.

He also noted Houston’s population gains (94,417 in 2017) in stark contrast to Chicago’s losses (13,286).

Oh, and The Texas town’s name for its bean?

“Cloud Column,” the newspaper reports.
