House Republican Organization Pulls Support for Rep. Long After ‘Allegations'

The organization said the allegations surfaced over Labor Day weekend and a third party firm was called in to investigate

The House Republican Organization has pulled its support for Rep. Jerry Long after it said it was “made aware of allegations into Rep. Long’s behavior.”

The organization said the allegations surfaced over Labor Day weekend and a third party firm was called in to investigate.

“Upon completion of their report on September 12, a decision was made to withdraw support of Rep. Long’s campaign, restrict access to all caucus resources and recommend he step down from his position,” the organization said in a statement.

Details on what the allegations entail remain unclear but the House Republican caucus and organization noted the group “has a zero tolerance policy on harassment of any kind.”

Long declined to comment Thursday afternoon.

Long represents the 76th districts, which includes LaSalle, Putnam and Livingston counties in Illinois.
